Registration for PSA 2021 is now open! The meeting occurs 11-14 November 2021 at the Baltimore Hilton Inner Harbor in Baltimore, MD, USA. (Have you booked your hotel room yet?)

We are pleased to invite submissions for the inaugural PSA Outreach and Engagement Award, which recognizes a scholar or team of scholars who have led outstanding efforts to engage the general public in philosophy of science topics. The scope of outreach and engagement that may be recognized by this award is wide, but its purpose is to highlight, promote, and elevate professional efforts to engage the general public about philosophy of science. Volunteer at PSA 2021

We can't wait to have you at our PSA 2020/2021 Biennial, but putting on such an event is no small feat. Help us make things run more smoothly by working a volunteer shift. In exchange for working a volunteer shift, we will waive your registration fee. 

 

Limited shifts are available both for in-person and remote volunteers.

 

NOTE: This opportunity is open to graduate students only.

Grants Available for PSA 2021

NSF and PSA Travel Grants

Deadline for Applications: 15 October 2021 (11:59 pm EDT)

The PSA is pleased to announce the availability of travel grants to offset the cost of attending PSA2021. Explanation of the travel grants and eligibility requirements are below.

 

NSF Travel Grant Eligibility: 

  • You must be participating in and register for PSA2021 (e.g., presenting a paper or poster, chairing a panel, or engaging in committee work).
  • You must be a graduate student, independent scholar, or a recent PhD graduate (graduated within the last five years). Retirees without research funds are considered independent scholars.
  • You must be either a U.S. citizen or affiliated with a U.S. institution.
  • These grants can only be used to cover travel costs to and from the meeting and registration. Hotel and food are not covered.
  • In general, only airfare from US-flag carriers is covered by this grant.
  • Please also note that membership can affect the amount of the award.

PSA Travel Grant Eligibility:

  • You must be participating in and register for PSA2021 (e.g., presenting a paper or poster, chairing a panel, or engaging in committee work).
  • You must be a graduate student or a recent PhD graduate (graduated within the last five years).
  • These grants can only be used to cover travel costs to and from the meeting. Hotel and food are not covered.
  • You must be a member of the Philosophy of Science Association. 
  • Those eligible for the NSF Travel Grant are NOT eligible for the PSA Travel Grant. That is, you must NOT be a US citizen or affiliated with a US institution.

Dependent Care Subsidies

 

Deadline for Applications: 15 October 2021 (11:59 pm EDT)

 

The Governing Board of the PSA is pleased to announce the continuation of the Dependent Care Subsidies for PSA 2021. PSA Dependent Care Subsidies will provide up to $200 to PSA members who need help covering added dependent care expenses incurred (at home or at the conference) while attending biennial meetings of the PSA. Subsidies are limited to members of the Philosophy of Science Association and registrants at PSA2021.

If you would like to learn more about philosophy and the coronavirus, we invite you to explore our new resource page: Teaching in the Time of COVID on the PSA website. If you would like to share an interesting source in the form of a syllabus, article, video, or podcast, for example, we invite you to submit it. The page will be updated weekly with new materials that are useful for professors teaching philosophy and COVID in the classroom or for whomever is trying to think philosophically about the pandemic.
