PSA Registration

Registration for the PSA24 New Orleans meeting is open. Prices will increase once we are on-site in New Orleans. Please visit the event site for more details and to register for the meeting. If you have are presenting at the meeting and have already created a speaker profile, you will be able to register through that profile. As always, the most economical solution to saving on registration is to be a member of the PSA so please make sure your membership is current!

We look forward to seeing everyone in New Orleans. Here is some crucial information to be aware of before arrival to ensure check-in runs smoothly and efficiently. Before your arrival, make sure to complete registration, which can be found on the PSA 2024 conference website. Once you are registered and have purchased a ticket, you should receive a confirmation email with a link to your ticket and access to our event app.
The “Pheedloop Go!” app is available to all attendees; you can easily open it from the link in your confirmation email to access the conference schedule, your ticket, and other event details. Completing registration beforehand will allow check-in to move quickly and smoothly. But if you run into any trouble registering on your own, no worries, we can help you register and purchase a ticket on-site at check-in.

Checking-In:

When you arrive at the event, please proceed to the Registration Desk on the second
floor in the Preservation Foyer. For check-in, you will need to provide your confirmation
email with the ticket (or proof of your ticket on the app) and a form of ID.

Please note that if you have not paid your invoice, the only methods of payment accepted are: debit cards, credit cards, cash,  or check. If you wish to pay using a card, please log back in to our website and pay it. If you wish to pay in cash or check, please bring it to the registration desk when you check-in.

PSA24 Hotel Information and Room Share

Our hotel block at the Marriott has been sold out and we have been unsuccessful in extending the block any further. If you are looking for an easy way to book a local hotel, please use this resource, which will return search results based on the distance from the conference hotel. By using this link, I will be able to track the amount of "overflow" rooms we book and then I can approach future hotels with even more accurate numbers.

If you have booked a room at the Marriott and cannot attend the conference, please DO NOT cancel your reservation. We are maintaining a waiting list and can transfer your reservation to another attendee while we refund your booking. Please contact director@philsci.org if you are unable to attend and you are interested in releasing your reservation at the Marriott.

A Note About Transportation

There has been an email circulating advertising a car service from the airport. That company may be fine, but they are in no way affiliated with the PSA and we do not endorse any ride-sharing services, nor have we negotiated any special rates for such services. While not an official endorsement, we have found Uber and Lyft seem to be reliable and economical in New Orleans.

Childcare @ PSA24

We are happy to announce that thanks to a generous donation from the Ann Johnson Institute for Science, Technology & Society, we are once again hiring Pittsburgh Event Childcare for the duration of the 2024 meeting. These fully licensed and insured childcare professionals will be converting our empty conference room into a day care center where you can safely leave your child(ren) while you attend events! You will be asked to fill out a short registration form when you drop off your child(ren) and you will be given a small pager so you can be reached in case of emergency.

It would be very helpful if you could add some basic information to this google sheet so that we can tell them how many kids (roughly) to expect each day. After speaking with the center director, they can take care of infants, but we will need an exact number so that they can adequately staff and furnish the space. Day care will be available from 8:30am – 6pm (Central) Thursday – Saturday, and 8:30am – 12p (Central) on Sunday.

PSA & Alliance for Affordable Energy

The PSA is delighted to be partnering with the New Orleans-based Alliance for Affordable Energy for our 2024 conference.  Identified by the PSA Climate Taskforce together with the Local Organizing Committee as an effective grassroots climate justice organization, AAF’s actions have accelerated the development of renewable energy infrastructure in New Orleans and helped protect residents from some of the worst impacts of the local fossil fuel industries.

While we will not be attempting to ‘offset’ the carbon emissions from our New Orleans meeting, we will be gathering donations to the AAF through a dedicated PSA donation button as a means of giving back to the local community and supporting progressive climate work in the region.  Please therefore consider donating by selecting the appropriate "ticket" when you register for the conference.

You can read more about the Alliance for Affordable Energy’s recent successes and ongoing projects here: https://www.all4energy.org/clean-energy.html
