Hard to believe that there are only 41 days remaining until PSA2022 in Pittsburgh! Registration numbers are looking good, and our hotel room block is just over 80% full. We can still accommodate more attendees and add additional hotel rooms at the conference rate, if necessary. If you have not done so yet, please register and book your hotel room today – prices for conference registration increase on October 10, 2022. Register at psa2022.dryfta.com.

We are happy to announce that thanks to a generous donation from the Ann Johnson Institute for Science, Technology & Society, we are hiring Pittsburgh Event Childcare for the duration of the 2022 meeting. These fully licensed and insured childcare professionals will be converting our empty conference room into a day care center where you can safely leave your child(ren) while you attend events! You will be asked to fill out a short registration form when you drop off your child(ren) and you will be given a small pager so you can be reached in case of emergency. It would be very helpful if you could add some basic information to this google sheet so that we can tell them how many kids (roughly) to expect each day. After speaking with the center director, they can take care of infants, but we will need an exact number so that they can adequately staff and furnish the space. Day care will be available in Kings Plaza from 8:30am – 6pm (EST) Thursday – Saturday, and 8:30am – 12p (EST) on Sunday.

We will be following CDC guidelines for all COVID and masking guidance. Currently, the community level of COVID in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania is low. Community levels can be checked at any time here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html. Attendees that are symptomatic or test positive for COVID should quarantine for five days. People may choose to mask at any time. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask. We encourage all attendees to act responsibly regarding vaccines and masking. We are also currently in discussion with local health departments to make some free testing supplies available in the PSA office at the Wyndham Grand. Please reach out to director@philsci.org with any questions or concerns. We will update this information if the situation changes or if the community level increases.

After many successful years, the PSA Women's Caucus is transitioning to a new name and purview as the PSA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Caucus. Many thanks to all who contributed to this transition including our transition committee and our membership. |
