Registration Open!

Hello All!

We would like to announce, with great excitement, that registration and hotel booking for PSA2022 - Pittsburgh is now open! Please feel free to visit psa2022.dryfta.com today to sign up for the conference, check out the program, and book your hotel room. There are still some details and further information being added to the site - do not fear if you don't see your favorite interest group lunch or social activity - these are being confirmed and added as the details become available. Additionally, there are still a few room assignments being made, those events still have "Virtual Room" listed as their location. Please disregard that designation, there will be no virtual component to PSA2022.

We would also like to point out that despite rising inflation and the increase of the price of goods and services, we are keeping the registration rates for PSA2022 the same as they were for PSA2020/21. It is important that we attempt to keep the price of registration as reasonable as possible to encourage participation and attendance. Additional, we heartily encourage all eligible graduate students and early career faculty to apply for NSF Travel Grants or PSA Travel Grants. We are fortunate to have this support and would like to exhaust these funds.

In closing, a tremendous thanks is owed to Holly Andersen and the Program Committee, Serife Tekin and the Poster Committee, and Matthew Brown and the Cognate Societies Committee. It is due to their tireless effort that we are able to present this outstanding program to you.

 Become a Volunteer

The PSA is offering free registration to qualified graduate volunteers.

Are you a graduate student and wish to receive free conference registration in exchange for volunteer service helping attendees register and speakers set up their rooms? For one shift of light service, you can attend the PSA for free.

Interested? Sign up using our volunteer signup form and indicate which days and times you are available. This opportunity is first come first serve and is contingent upon completion of service.

As a token of appreciation, all volunteers will be invited to attend the Jessica Pfeifer PSA Volunteer Breakfast for volunteers and chairs, sponsored by UMBC, featuring free food and valuable networking opportunities.

Sponsors to Date

Preparations for PSA22 Pittsburgh are moving forward, in large part thanks to our generous sponsors! To date, the PSA gratefully acknowledges meeting event sponsorships from the following institutions:

Dietrich Colleges of Humanities and Social Sciences (CMU)

University of California, Irvine Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science

Arizona State University Center for Biology and Society

Minnesota Center for Philosophy of Science

University of Pittsburgh Center for Philosophy of Science

University of Pittsburgh Department of Philosophy

University of Pittsburgh Department of History and Philosophy of Science

University of Maryland, Baltimore County Department of Philosophy

The PSA is still looking for PSA22 sponsors. If you or your institution would like to sponsor an event at the PSA, please reach out to development@philsci.org for a list of available sponsorship opportunities.

Call for Session Moderators/Chairs

Want to chair a session at the 2022 PSA? We are looking for volunteers to chair symposia and contributed paper sessions. This is a great way to participate on the main program and a valuable contribution to the quality of the conference. Moderating a session involves keeping speakers and Q&A to their allotted time, and ensuring a respectful discussion.

We will first assign those who are not already on the main program (only contributed papers and symposia count for this, not Cognate Society sessions or the Poster Forum) as a speaker, so as many scholars as are interested can join the conference. After that, anyone who is already on the main program may be assigned to chair.

Please distribute this to colleagues and students you think might be interested. Moderators must have completed all the coursework in their Ph.D. program (be ABD). MA students are not eligible to chair.

Please indicate your willingness and availability here (link to Form), and thanks for your help in making the Pittsburgh 2022 PSA great.

Interest Groups Announcement

There are a number of restaurants within a walkable distance of the hotel in Pittsburgh. If you are interested in hosting an Interest Group Lunch at PSA2022, please email office@philsci.org  to coordinate. Hosts of Interest Group Lunches are in charge of organization of their lunch. THE PSA IS NOT SUBSIDIZING THE MEALS, but simply helping to facilitate their organization. Each attendee at the meals will be responsible for paying for her or his own meal.
