Updates from the PSA Office

With the current academic year coming to a close, there will be some turnover within the PSA Executive Office:

Congratulations to Dom DuPonty! Dom, a former ethics bowl national champion, is graduating with a BA in Philosophy and a BS in Chemistry. After graduation he plans to serve with Americorps doing environmental conservation.

We want to thank Dom for working tirelessly during a critical transition at the PSA. His time and effort contributed greatly to the success of the PSA20/21 Baltimore meeting. He has also served as a valuable source of knowledge for our conference platform.

We wish him the best in all future endeavors.

We would also like to welcome Walter Orozco as the new Assistant Director of the PSA! Walt is a second year PhD student whose work focuses on Philosophy of Science and Philosophy of Physics, specifically what philosophy can offer scientific understanding. He is also interested in researching how to make education more accessible to underprivileged groups. And he hopes to investigate queer theory from a philosophical perspective. Walt will be responsible for answering emails, social media campaigns, website updates and helping to prepare for PSA22 – Pittsburgh.

Finally, we are very excited to announce that former PSA Assistant Director, Taraneh Wilkinson, PhD, will continue on with us as the new PSA Development Officer. This is an integral part of the future of the organization, and it is in great hands. Taraneh has served the PSA since August 2021 and has been an invaluable source of stability and institutional knowledge.

PSA Editor-in-Chief Search

After 5 years of excellent service as the Editor-in-Chief for the journal Philosophy of Science, Andrea Woody has generously offered an additional year of editorship. Andrea Woody's term as EiC of PHOS is coming to an end in June 2023 and the PSA is looking for a new Editor.

We would like to thank the members of the newly formed Editor-in-Chief Search Committee – Michela Massimi (Chair), Jun Otsuka, Doreen Fraser, Dan Weiskopf, Anjan Chakravartty, and Max Cormendy. There will be a call forthcoming for Letters of Interest as we begin our search for a new editor for the Philosophy of Science journal.

Upcoming in May - Poster Call, Elections

May is going to be a busy month for the PSA! In addition to the call for Letters of Interest for the new Editor, we will also be announcing the call for Poster Submission to PSA22 – Pittsburgh. We will also be holding our annual election – this cycle will feature nominees for two Governing Board positions, as well as nominees for the next PSA President. Thank you for participating in these activities and encouraging others to participate as well!
