Camp is a project workshop, designed to give graduate students and early career researchers the opportunity to develop novel modeling projects under the guidance of experts in different areas of theoretical and computational biology and philosophy. The goal is for participants to deepen their modeling toolkits and make concrete progress on their own projects. Each day will include presentations by experts on different modeling approaches, as well as group working sessions where participants can receive individualized feedback on their modeling projects. Confirmed experts include Ben Allen (Emmanuel College, Mathematical Biology), Brett Calcott (University of Sydney, Philosophy of Science), Kaleda Denton (Sante Fe Institute, Culture Evolution), Seth Frey (UC Davis, Computational Social Science), Patrick Forber (Tufts, Philosophy of Biology), Isaac Overcast (Columbia, Ecology and Evolution), Hannah Rubin (University of Missouri, Philosophy of Science), Derek Skillings (UNC Greensboro, Philosophy of Biology), and Rory Smead (Northeastern, Philosophy and Game Theory), BaM! Camp is organized as a 4-day retreat, with June 14 and 19 reserved for arriving and leaving respectively. The workshop will take place at Luna’s Trail Farm and Event Center in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains outside of Greensboro, North Carolina. Participants are housed on-site and prepare meals together. Lodging is limited and accommodations may have to be shared depending on total attendance. On-site camping is also available.\n\nThe following week (June 22-26), PaBST (Philosophy and Biology Shop Talks) will be held at the same venue.
